ARTISAN: MECHANICAL (SIX VACANCIES)

(FLEET MANAGEMENT SERVICES)
POSITION CODE: 240405
TASK Grade 10 (R368 808 – R512 736 per annum)

(Basic salary only, excluding benefits)

Qualifications and experience required:

Trade-tested artisan.
A valid Code EC driver’s licence.

Key attributes and competencies:

The incumbent must:

be able to diagnose faults through the application of visual and other related mechanical inspection and investigative procedures;

conduct mechanical inspections;
conduct quality checks on hydraulic mechanisms;
perform general motor mechanic inspections;

work in all weather conditions;
possess general administrative, supervisory and communication skills;
be physically fit and able-bodied and will be required to undergo a medical examination at the NMBM Wellness Centre as part of the selection process.

Job purpose:

Performing work in progress and completion of specialised tasks associated with the mechanical maintenance and repair of heavy plant and vehicles, including attending to routine/general administrative recording requirements contributing to the accomplishment of departmental objectives.

As part of the selection process, candidates may be tested on any requirement, skill or competency, which will include pre-employment screening, medical examination, security vetting and psychometric assessment.
